US diplomat, Philo Dibble
The United States has said the European Union should consider widening its sanctions against the Iranian regime to include measures targeting officials responsible for human rights violations, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
The news agency said a senior US diplomat, Philo Dibble, met EU officials in Brussels on Tuesday, “to show the impact of wider sanctions.” Mr. Dibble, a deputy assistant secretary of state, told reporters, “We have suggested the Europeans consider something like (what) we have done on human rights.”
