Cameo Art House Theatre secures funds for digital conversion
Fayetteville Observer excerpt
For Nasim Kuenzel, who co-owns the theater with her husband, Chris, the conversion represents the theater's next phase of life, albeit a bittersweet one.
"As a film lover, you love the fact that you've been working with the same technology and format that you started with," Nasim Kuenzel said. "But we've got to change with the times, and fortunately we're one of the few lucky ones, as far as indie theaters go, who can say we've been successful in surviving."
With the advent of digital film technology, more movie distributors are carrying the new digital format, and not the traditional 35mm film format, which has been the industry standard for decades. The switch didn't affect larger, chain movie theaters as much.
