Almost Silencing the Music

"One of the biggest movies out this holiday season is "Invictus." It's based on Nelson Mandela’s life during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa. The event happened just after apartheid had ended. Nelson Mandela was the new president.

At that time, Roger Lucey was a young musician who used his music to confront apartheid. But just as Roger's career was taking off, a young South African security officer was assigned to ruin him. The two men join Dick Gordon to talk about their unlikely friendship, and about what lessons their story holds for the United States. This story originally aired on June 9, 2009"
